What’s so cool about iPhone 4?

As an Apple fangirl I feel obligated (not that it’s a chore in any sense of the word) to express my opinion on the new iPhone.  Ahem, I LOVE IT.  I have to admit, when the world was first introduced to the phone via Jason Chen of Gizmodo, my reaction to the aesthetics of the device was, in a word, disappointed.  I’m a big fan of smooth lines and curved edges  the metal casing around the phone made me not so hot for it.  However, I, like many others figured there had to be a reason for such a specific design.  Mr. Jobs let us know yesterday, it’s the phone’s antenna!  Apple is known for it’s brilliance in design so I had no doubt there was a reason for the redesign of the device.  I thought I didn’t like the new look but leave it to Apple to make me fall in love with it.  The final product is beautiful, sleek and oh so Apple.  While I have to admit, none of the new features (save for the Retina Display, Gyroscope and improved battery life) are anything I absolutely need but far be it for me to need a reason to purchase a new Apple product!  For example, while I love the ability to capture HD video, I hardly ever find myself wishing I had a video camera to capture a memorable moment (although having the ability may keep me on the lookout for those moments a little more).  The front facing camera for video chat is an awesome feature, which I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of, just as soon as we have the ability to video chat with anyone with video chat capabilities (as opposed to just people who have the iPhone 4).  That being said, the speed bump and increased battery life I will be getting from upgrading from a iPhone 3G will be awesome in itself. Despite the fact that I don’t need any of these features you can be sure I will be going to my local Apple store on June 24th to get a piece of the new hotness from Apple.  I think I’m going with white this time around.

Missed the keynote?  Here’s a quick rundown of the new features of the iPhone 4:
*  Retina Display – more pixels per square inch resulting in sharper pictures and text
*  Brand new design – 1/4 thinner than the 3GS and the slimmest smartphone on the market; stainless steel rim, aluminosilicate glass front and back (stronger, more scratch resistant glass)
*  Front facing camera – for “FaceTime”, Apple’s version of mobile video chat
*  5 megapixel camera on back with accompanying flash
*  Second microphone for noise cancellation
*  A4 processor (more powerful and efficient)
*  Gryoscope – similar to the accelerometer in that it tells the device where it is in space (this feature is going to be great for gaming)
*  HD Video camera with iMovie video editing software
What features are you looking forward to?  Are you going to buy an iPhone 4?  Let us know in the comments.
